100,000 Loads of Dignity - A WeHOPE Milestone

We've Reached 100,000 Laundry Loads Served! 🧺✨

On Monday, July 14, 2025, we celebrated a remarkable milestone at WeHOPE: our Dignity on Wheels program has officially completed 100,000 laundry loads for our unhoused neighbors. Since launching in 2015, this initiative has grown from a simple idea into a transformative service bringing essential hygiene directly to those who need it most.

What began as a way to "spread a little dignity to those who needed to get clean" has evolved into one of our most impactful programs. Dignity on Wheels now operates across 5 counties and 18 cities throughout the Bay Area, bringing not just laundry services but also showers, restrooms, and comprehensive case management support right where people experiencing homelessness are.

More Than Clean Clothes

This milestone represents far more than just clean clothing. Every load washed, dried, and folded represents a moment of dignity restored, a barrier removed, and a human connection made. Our mobile hygiene units provide private shower stalls, toilets, sinks, washers, and dryers, creating spaces where our unhoused neighbors can attend to basic needs with privacy and respect.

As our Director of Operations for Dignity on Wheels, Anita Blount, can attest, these services change lives. She's witnessed countless transformations, including individuals who have gone from living in encampments to becoming employed team members helping others.

Why Hygiene Matters

Access to basic hygiene services is often overlooked but critically important. Clean clothes and regular showers not only improve physical health but also boost self-esteem and confidence. These fundamental services increase the chances of securing employment and housing, creating pathways out of homelessness.

Each laundry load represents our commitment to meeting people where they are with compassion and service. We believe that maintaining personal hygiene is essential for restoring dignity and self-confidence.

Join the Movement

We invite you to join our movement of dignity and compassion. Here are ways you can make a difference:

  • Host a laundry pod drive - clean clothes can make a world of difference

  • Volunteer with your group, either at our facility or through off-site opportunities

  • Join our Circle of Hope monthly donor program to sustain our services

  • Sponsor loads of laundry to directly support our unhoused neighbors

  • Take time to know someone experiencing homelessness - they have names, stories, and dreams just like all of us

Here's to the next 100,000 loads—and to continuing the work of meeting people where they are with compassion and service. 💙
